James Gastovski’s blog

Good day,

Today, I found something I thought I had lost a long time ago.

I was tiding up my lil’ house, when I came across this old heavily crumpled photo of my first operation casino online pokerroulette strategiecasino online rouletteinternet gewinnspielonline casino und poker portalkostenlose online casinocasino tropez bonusflash games rouletteplay baccarat onlinecasino online betrugcasino comglucksspiel gesellschaftonline roulette, roulette online gratis, online roulette berlinspielregeln spieleautomatenwww slotscasino games demounbegrenztes freispielonline jack blackcraps ruleseinarmiger bandit online spielenjack black regelnonline casino kostenlosonline kasino spielengratis casino spielenroulette gewinnrealistisches casino, realistisches online kasino, realisitisches kasinomultispieler spielepc slotslotto am mittwochkasinos im internetdas beste online casinoroulette kostenlos online spielenonline slotmaschinecasino online comvideo poker spielenkostenloses online kasinoslot machine spielenparty poker onlineonline poker kostenfreitexas holdem online spielencasino poker regelnparty poker bonus codespoker pc spiel downloadpoker zum gratis downloadenpoker spielen softwareholdem poker freeware downloadtexas holdem poker game downloadpoker online spielnpoker tracker bonusstrip poker online game on Kolguev during the ‘85 Malden Crisis. The operation was a simple task - destroy several Shilkas under the cover of night (so our friends from airborne could paradrop on this tiny island), then provide some help to the local resistance, assist our advancing troops, kill Guba and silently withdraw. Sound easy, eh? My teammates were already getting on in age, but successfully we worked at achieving our mission, like we were one person, divided into several highly trained assassins. Fast’n'deadly - as they say in the cheap “specop movies”.

When I look at this photo I can remember each detail - the cold steel of my M16, the hissing of my friend’s silenced SMG and sounds of remote vehicle movements. If you ask me - I was pretty scared back in those days. Soldiers should be fearless - you may say, but it’s hard to stay unruffled in the center of this rebellious red storm. At least Malden and Everon were freed.

This was our last, but definitely the hardest step against Guba’s personal army. Many things are still classified as there were too many lies about casualties and true reasons for this “patriotic” struggle. “Patriotism is a virtue vicious” Oscar Wild said, and damn, the old man was completely right - this is a far too complex feeling for wicked human mind like his. Who knows how many other Gubas out there are dreaming within depths of our soul?

Too much philosophy - I am getting completely carried away with my memories. You know - there was something in this era… Something that makes me too nostalgic a person. I guess I’m getting old, he-he…

As another Christmas approaches very quickly, I set out to do some some last minute shopping in Montignac, I’m staying here for a few days over the holidays. Not knowing many people around these parts, I found some very dismal accommodation’s at the Everon Castle. I snapped this shot on the way there.

Having a bit of time on my hands over the Christmas break, I set out to search for a special gift for myself, the type of gift that would consume some of that much needed R&R time. I started looking over some books, I got that warm feeling, there is nothing like sitting down with some cognac a fine book and a crackling fire. Having procrastinated for quite a while on which book I might enjoy I headed on over to the discount bin, I always like to rescue old forgotten books and to my surprise I found a demo copy of Cold War Rearmed!

I was stunned as I glanced over the box cover and thought to myself this is just what I need for the holidays!

I went right back to my room and loaded it into my old laptop. I was so excited I just couldn’t wait. 10 minutes later I’m playing the demo and I’m snapping screen shots, I thought I would share those with you so here they are…

I did some ‘googling‘ and found that you will be able to download the demo release of Cold War Rearmed from the good people at Bohemia Interactive very soon from here!

> Enjoy!

I found a copy of the September edition of “Soldiers ‘R’ Real People Too” magazine laying around the hangar while I was out servicing the Cessna today. The o’l girl is in dire need of a paint job, I spent the last few years traveling around and I haven’t cared for her as well as I should have, a new coat of paint and she’ll be as good as gold again.

I had the hangar mechanic snap a photograph of me and my gal, you can really tell she needs some paint!

I sat down for a bit of a break, propped up my feet and started flipping through the magazine. I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotions, viewing the combat pictures of the young men still fighting on Malden really brought on a huge rush of memories and flashbacks. I immediately thought about my old comrades, thinking they might enjoy these pictures too, I thought I would post some of these pictures on my blog, just maybe these pictures will stir those same crazy emotions and flashbacks in you that I had from the Cold War in 1985.

Hello,

I finally returned from my trip from Malden and thought it was about time to update my blog!
It were an fantastic few days walking through the mountains and forest, but above all it was good to see some of my old friends there, we had a great time.

Now I’m finally back on Nogova but I plan to go back soon to get the pictures I forgot to bring with me (the guy who took the pictures doesn’t have an internet connection like me but he does have a digital camera, how about that?) for this blog, guess I’m getting older.. But anyway, so I’m not to disappoint you readers, I’ve searched through some of my old stuff and found an old postcard from Malden instead.

Old Malden Postcard

Postcard From Malden

It’s the only one I could find at the moment, I’m pretty sure I have some more lying around here somewhere.
Will update this post once I find it!

Edit: I have found a more recent postcard from Malden.
Now I’m preparing to go to Malden again, hope there are more pictures to show you once I return.

Lets check if everything is working now…

My name is James Gastovski, the photo on the right is me in better days (I don’t have that lovely black hair anymore by the way, it has mostly turned grey already, hehe). I currently live on the beautiful Island of Nogova by a lake that invites you to go fishing the whole day. For living I currently work at the Nogova airport as a pilot, usually flying people to and from of the Islands here and I love it. There are many locations here and on the other nearby Islands that are absolutely stunning, I will try to take some pictures someday when I have the time and post them on this blog.
